Introduction   Act Now – Space is Limited!

Welcome to the exhibit hall for the National Association of Workforce Boards' Forum 2008. NAWB is the national association representing 650 state and local workforce investment boards (WIBs).

Forum 2008 is NAWB’s signature event, attracting over 2,000 business leaders and workforce investment professionals from across the country.  This year’s theme is  "Collaborate * Advocate * Innovate - Helping America Work!"

As we navigate through the 21st Century, workforce boards continue to face new challenges to prepare a workforce for a globally-competitive knowledge-based economy, where new technologies are creating rapid and continuous change.  Future jobs will require higher-skilled workders and, therefore, higher education, and lifelong learning will be essential to prepare future workers for jobs that don't even exist today.

In order to obtain and then sustain adequate funding and resources to face the new realities of this global economy, workforce boards - now, more than ever - must collaborate to share and repurpose ideas and innovations that will help leverage limited funding in communities across the country.  Since we may be facing another year without WIA authorization and without increases in WIA funding, workforce boards must continue to advocate  with federal, state, and local elected officials to fund and support education and training programs that will build a strong workforce to compete in the global economy.  Local, state, and regional workforce boards must bring their unique circumstances, challenges, and opportunities together to innovate for new and creative workforce solutions that will support global competition.

Forum 2008 will offer many opportunities for you to participate in a peer-to-peer learing environment where workforce and business leaders will openly collaborate, advocate, and innovate to turn today's workforce challenges into long-term opprotunities.

The NAWB Board of Directors and staff invite you to join us, February 23rd- 26th, and to be part of this important conversation on Helping America Work.
